Demetria Elite Dance Company
Dancers with a high interest in dance are encouraged to participate in the Demetria Elite Dance Company (DEDC). DEDC auditions are held the first Saturday of June. Any dancer that wants to dance at the professional level has the opportunity to be a DEDC member. Auditions allow the choreographer to see which dancers work well together and help to determine which dance(s) the dancer will perform in during the competition season.
What is a DEDC member?
Any dancer 5 years old and up with a passion for dance who wants to train at the professional level.
How do I become a DEDC member?
Auditions are held the first Saturday of June with Miss Candace. Dancers will spend 90 minutes working with Miss Candace to determine which styles of dance each dancer performs best in. Dancers will then be placed in dance routines that fit their selected styles of dance for the season.
What is expected of a DEDC member?
DEDC members are expected to take at least 3 dance classes per week (one must be ballet) and attend Company practices during the month of August and as scheduled throughout the dance season. Dancers will represent Demetria Elite Dance in various events across the Memphis area and compete in four regional dance competitions, one dance convention, and one national dance competition. DEDC members are also expected to be excellent students in school. Education is fundamental for all dancers, and all dancers are expected to be academically excellent in school by making good grades and having good behavior in school.
How much does it cost?
DEDC members are expected to pay monthly tuition ($100) to cover all dance classes and company rehearsals. Other fees include competition fees, convention fees, costume fees, and travel fees. There will be two fundraisers to help DEDC families cover some of their costs.
